About the Library
Atal Bihari Vajpayee Central Library (a learning resource centre) of Mahatma Gandhi Central University was established in the year 2016. At present, library is serving users from 7 Schools and 20 Departments with more than Twenty Six Thousand volumes of books and providing access to scholarly information, research support and study facilities to the teaching and non-teaching staff, students and research scholars.
Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) - 23rd Edition has been followed to classify documents.
The Central Library is situated in the midst of all departments is easily accessible to all/everyone in the University Campus. The Central Library will be soon fully automated using SOUL software and Circulation Services will be executed through RFID System.

General Library Rules
- Entry by University Identity card only
- In absence of Identity card, a permission letter from the Head of Department is required which will be valid for a day only
- The Readers shall observe absolute silence in the library.
- The use of cell phones inside the library is strictly prohibited.
- Laptops are allowed only inside the reading room of the library.
- Personal belongings are to be kept at property counter
- Over-due books will be charged for each day (@ 1 Rupee/day)
- Members shall not engage in conversation in any part of the library which may cause disturbance to other readers.
- Members shall not smoke, chew pan or spit in any part of the library.
- Members shall not scribble, damage or mark on any library materials.
- Members shall not shelve books and periodicals as that may disturb the prescribed order.
- The members caught tearing pages/ stealing of books will be suspended forthwith from using the library facilities and the University may initiate further disciplinary action against them.
- Members leaving the library should show the material borrowed by them / taken out of the library to the security staff at the gate. They should take back their belongings kept at the property counter while leaving library.
- The librarian reserves the right to suspend the membership of any member found misusing the library materials, misbehaving, creating nuisance, abusing the library staff or behaving in an indecent manner.
