The Department of Commerce was established in 2016 to promote an environment of research and higher education. The main objective of the department is to fill the gap in higher education and especially in research in the region. Initially, in 2016, the department introduced an undergraduate program B.Com. (Hons.) with an intake of 30 students. Soon after, the department launched three new programs — a postgraduate program (M.Com.), and to foster and promote research, the department started Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs in 2019 under the valuable guidance of our Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma. The department nurtures the knowledge and skills required to shape students for the demands of the 21st century. It also promotes co-curricular and cultural activities to enhance the ability and competency of our brand ambassadors, i.e., our students.
At present, the Department of Commerce is located at Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyay Parisar, Chandmari, Motihari. The department has well-equipped classrooms and a central library at Jila School, Motihari. It is noteworthy that although the university is in its initial stage with limited resources, the department makes optimum utilization of them. The department imparts the best and updated content to students. Its vision is to be recognized as one of the best centres of commerce and business education in India and abroad under the able guidance of Prof. Shirish Mishra, who is currently the Head of the Department.
