“Sā Vidyā Yā Vimuktaye” (सा विद्या या विमुक्तये) – keeping this Sanskrit shloka in context, the School of Education was established in May 2019. At present, under the Department of Educational Studies with academically rich and experienced faculty members, the School of Education is offering M.A. in Education, M.Phil in Education, and Ph.D. in Education programmes (since the academic year 2019–20). The objective of the School of Education is to bridge the gap between curriculum and pedagogy, theory and practice, and the policy perspective between schools and higher education institutions. With this vision, the school has plans for expansion by introducing new programmes in Teacher Education; Education Policy and Planning; Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment, etc. In recent times, teacher education has been recognized globally as one of the most important areas of thrust. With this awareness, and by recognizing the challenges and needs of teacher education in the country, the School of Education aims to impart the latest and best teacher education. Accordingly, the curricula of all proposed courses are under formulation. Our goal is to make the School of Education one of the leading destinations for teacher education in the country, with fully equipped research facilities and comprehensive pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes.
