About Department

The Department of Media Studies was established in the year 2019 with the vision of serving society through objective journalism and ethical media. The Department is committed to achieving excellence in media education and research and measures the success of its programs using the highest standards of quality. The Department has set up a specialized research center, Acharya Bharat Muni Sanchar Shodh Kendra, to promote quality research. Inspired by this vision, our department has gained popularity and has signed Memoranda of Understanding with prestigious media institutions such as the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, and Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication, Bhopal. The Department runs Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctoral programs namely the Bachelor of Arts in Journalism & Mass Communication (B.A.J.M.C), Master of Journalism & Mass Communication (M.J.M.C), and Ph.D. in Mass Communication. A group of well-qualified, experienced, and highly motivated faculty members are engaged in providing quality education to future journalists and preparing students in wider fields of mass communication such as Media Research, Journalism, Content & Creative Writing, Public Relations, Anchoring, Graphic Designing, Advertising, and Film Production to take up challenging jobs in communication and media. The Department’s Training and Placement Cell continuously endeavors to provide opportunities for students’ placements and training. We have state-of-the-art audio-video labs, post-production labs, and graphics labs with the latest equipment. We believe in giving students hands-on industry knowledge through field visits, workshops, special lecture series, interactive sessions, conferences, seminars, webinars, competitions, fests, etc., where many industry experts from fields such as print & electronic journalism, anchoring, public relations, advertising, and filmmaking have interacted with our students. The Department has organized various seminars, workshops, and conferences. We aspire to achieve many more milestones in the coming years and add further glory to the university.
