Welcome to Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Bihar. Established in the land of knowledge, East Champaran, Bihar, this is the 41st Central University of India. Within just seven years of its establishment, the University has carved a distinct identity in the academic world through new courses and disciplines. With our academic dynamism and unique character, we are committed to meeting the needs and expectations of society in relation to the academic landscape. We are determined to become an ideal, multidisciplinary, multidimensional, and research-oriented University for students by adopting innovations in higher education.

Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar is dedicated particularly to postgraduate teaching and learning and is widely recognized for research excellence and its distinguished faculty. The national and international recognition of our faculty reflects the University’s outstanding academic engagement. Due to scientific publications and the research-driven efforts of faculty, the University has attracted students from almost all states of India on a large scale.

We are engaged in encouraging intellectual society across disciplines and in fulfilling our mission through high-quality teaching, research, and extension activities. By doing so, we aim to provide leadership, insight, and direction to learners, enabling them to achieve the highest ideals of knowledge and truth.

The University is actively engaged in developing such personalities among students who will be capable of taking India forward on the path of sustainable growth in various fields in the contemporary world.

Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar, as an academic institution, is conscious of its contribution to advancing this dialogue based on Indian philosophy of life, to address global challenges and crises, and to explore future plans and solutions. It remains constantly active in this regard with a well-thought-out strategy.

The ‘National Education Policy 2020’ is an important tool for instilling the lofty values of Indian philosophy of life in the new generation and developing personalities capable of facing global challenges. Mahatma Gandhi Central University is committed to designing the curriculum and implementing co-curricular activities in line with NEP-2020. While following the ancient Indian tradition of inclusivity, the University is also strengthening itself as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary hub, promoting the required research activities in response to the needs, challenges, and possible solutions of the 21st century. Under NEP-2020, the University is advancing towards establishing itself as a world-class research university.
