About School

The School of Life Sciences at MGCU was founded in 2016 with the vision of promoting inter-disciplinary teaching and research with the following aims and objectives:

  • To become a Centre of Excellence for 'Post Graduate Education and Research in all disciplines of Life Sciences' in an integrated manner to achieve par excellence.
  • To develop as centre for multidisciplinary research towards a common goal/ program of study.

At present, the School of Life Sciences is offering B.Sc. (Hons.), M.Sc., M.Phil., and Ph.D. programmes in Biotechnology, Botany and Zoology. During the last three years, the School of Life Sciences has steadily progressed towards development of its infrastructural facilities to meet the requirements of teaching and research and provide a conducive environment for academic excellence. Presently, the School of Life Sciences has 21 faculty members from highly reputed Universities/Institutions. The research work carried out here has received appreciation and has helped the School of Life Sciences in carving out a specific niche in biological sciences. The School of Life Sciences is exploring all possibilities of extramural funding for research from every major research initiative in India. Some of the faculty members have been successful in obtaining the financial support to achieve specific objectives through clearly established programs of DBT, DST, UGC and CSIR.

The School keeps organizing distinguished lectures of outstanding academicians and researchers of national and international repute as well as conferences in frontier areas of biological sciences both at School and Departmental level. All efforts are being made to devise a machinery towards creating a vibrant and exciting learning atmosphere. The current teaching and research at School of Life Sciences ensures cutting-edge, multidisciplinary training for future scientists and scholars, and the knowledge and experience they attain will impact on the overall progress in many areas of life sciences at large. To sum up we strive to achieve par excellence in teaching and thrive to answer some of the most challenging questions in unravelled areas of biological sciences to improve the well-being of humankind and our environment at large.
