Professor Rajendra Singh is a noted story writer, poet, critic and editor of Haryanvi folk literature. His poems and stories have been published by prestigious publishers. He earned his Ph.D. on the topic "Lok-Sanskriti in Devendra Satyarthi's Hindi Literature" from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra (Haryana) and his D.Litt. on the topic "Hindi Dalit Autobiographies: A Cultural Analysis" from Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Agra University, Agra (Uttar Pradesh). He taught for 21 years at R.K.S.D. (P.G.) College, Kaithal (Haryana). After that, he served as Head, Department of Hindi and Dean, School of Humanities & Languages at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Bihar. He has authored 3 poetry collections, 2 short story collections, 9 critical works and edited 36 books on Haryanvi folk literature.

He was honored with the "Shri Arjun Das Malik Smriti Sahitya Samman" (2011) by Sahitya Sabha, Kaithal (Haryana) for poetry and story writing, and the "Mahashay Dayachand Mayna Smriti Lok-Sahitya Gaurav Samman" (2019-20) by Kavi Dayachand Mayna Charitable Trust, Rohtak (Haryana). He also received the "Lok Sahitya Sadhna Samman" (2019) worth Rs. 2 lakhs from Haryana Sahitya Akademi, Panchkula. A dedicated teacher and inspiring mentor, Prof. Singh has nearly 24 years of teaching and research experience. Under his guidance, 2 research scholars have been awarded Ph.D. degrees and 22 scholars have received M.Phil. degrees. His areas of expertise are Folk Literature, Indian Literature, and Comparative Literature.

Prof. Rajendra Singh has also completed a Minor Research Project titled "Childhood in Hindi Dalit Autobiographies" (2010) funded by UGC, and a Major Research Project titled "Educational Status of Scheduled Castes in Haryana: Attainments and Challenges" (2012–14) funded by ICSSR, New Delhi. He has successfully shouldered institutional responsibilities as Director of the Centre for Folk Art and Culture Production as well as Dean of the School of Humanities & Languages and Head of the Department of Hindi at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari, Bihar. He has also been actively involved as an external subject expert in various universities, research committees and advisory bodies.

Prof. Rajendra Singh was also a Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh for two years, from April 2022 to March 2024.
