Prof. (Dr.) Devdutt Chaturvedi obtained his Ph.D. degree from the Medicinal Chemistry Division of the Central Drug Research Institute (CSIR), Lucknow, India. Thereafter, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Georgia, USA and the Institute of Organic Chemistry, University of Goettingen, Germany. Upon returning to India, he worked as a Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras, and as a Scientist Fellow at CSIR–Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu, and CSIR–North-East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat, Assam. He has worked on several areas of organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry such as the design and synthesis of novel classes of antidiabetic, antifertility, antitubercular, anti-inflammatory, hypolipidemic, anti-HIV/HBV, anti-cancer, antimalarial, antimicrobial, and anti-Alzheimer agents. In this pursuit, he has investigated structurally diverse synthetic and natural molecules such as steroids, terpenoids, nucleosides, heterocycles, carbamates, and related compounds. He has published more than 100 research papers (with more than 2100 citations and an h-index of 27) in reputed international journals and filed 11 patents. He also serves as a reviewer for several leading international journals of publishers such as the American Chemical Society (ACS), Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Elsevier, Thieme, Wiley, Bentham Science, Taylor & Francis, Hindawi, and others. His contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Most Cited Paper Award (2006–2009) for a Tetrahedron Letters publication, the Young Scientist Award (2008–2009) from the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Highest Impact Factor Award (2009–2010) for publishing a review article in Chemical Society Reviews (I.F. = 54.564) from CSIR–NEIST, Jorhat, Assam, and the DST-Fast Track Young Scientist Award (2010) from the Government of India. He has also served as Guest Editor for a special issue titled “Organic Synthesis Using Green Reaction Media” in the international journal Current Organic Synthesis (Bentham Science Publishers) and has been invited to join the editorial boards of several international journals.
