Prof. Sujit Kumar Choudhary is Professor of Sociology and the Dean, School of Social Sciences, at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari (Bihar). He also serves as the Head of the Department of Sociology and Head (I/C) of the Department of Social Work. Prior to his current roles at MGCUB, he taught at the Central University of Jharkhand, Ranchi, and at Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur. He holds an M.A., M.Phil., and Ph.D. in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
His scholarly contributions include 44 research papers in reputed international and national journals/edited volumes and six books of international repute. He has delivered 57 invited talks and presented 45 research papers at national and international conferences/seminars, including engagements at Harvard University (Boston, USA), Japan Women’s University (Tokyo), and Porto Alegre (Brazil). He is a member of several editorial boards and reviewers’ committees and serves as an expert for various Public Service Commissions and universities across India.
Prof. Choudhary’s recognitions include featuring in the “World’s Top 2% Scientists” lists (2024, 2025), the UGC-Research Award (2016–18), and distinctions such as the Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award (2019), among other national honors, acknowledging his meritorious service and outstanding contributions to the field of Sociology and higher education.
